Hi Guys!
I can’t believe it has been almost been 3 months since I wrote my last blog post! I do apologise, things have been pretty hectic with my PhD, family and social commitments BUT I’m back! Bringing the FIRE! We have just about 6 weeks and a few days till the end of 2017 so Im going to make this time count so will start off with something quite exciting – my interrail trip! 🙂
On Saturday 9th September till Saturday 23rd September, my friend and I embarked on our inter-railing trip. We visited 5 countries within those 10 days which was absolutely amazing! It was tiring near the end as we did A LOT of exploring in a short space of time however I have no regrets, it was a unique and wonderful cultural experience.
I won’t take up too much space chit-chatting, below is a brief summary of our time abroad and our favourite sites in each country. Enjoy the read!

Top tips/Lessons learnt
- Check the distance between each city before booking anything (hotel/flights/trains)
- Ensure you book seats for next city instead of buying a new ticket to that city like we did (interail pass covers train ticket not seats).
- Research thoroughly into hostel, as some are super and nice while others are sub par to say the least!
- Check your passport is up to date
- Pack any medications you made need
- Planning time is important so you don’t rush
- Ensure you have travel insurance (just in case anything happens!)
- Travel lightly i.e. small suitcase or big rucksack
- Choose your travel buddy wisely…it’s not all friends you can tolerate for 10 days straight! (I was lucky with mine ^_^ )
THANKS FOR READING!!! (I know it was long) ^_^
Wow 5 countries in 10 days is a lot. So exciting! We prefer a little slower paced itinerary (it’s just coz we walk slow haha) but this is a great start.

Haha yes, I have a friend who prefers this also. Interail is not for everyone but I do believe visiting one country and taking time to soak in the culture is also necessary! 🙂

Welcome back to blogging and I hope that you are feeling refreshed! I love the sound of an inter-rail trip and while I have not been on one before I will keep in mind that I need to choose my travel buddy wisely! You never know when a friendship can break down. On the plus side I am so glad that you included Lisbon and I do love the Portuguese custard tarts although I might be biased considering my heritage is Portuguese!

Portugal was truly amazing, next time I visit I hope to pop into Algarve and maybe Lisbon again for those custard tarts!

Hi Amalia
YES DO IT! It’s never to late to plan and go on a Eurotrip, if it’s truly on your heart go for it. Even if it’s just 3 countries or one 1 country and loads of cities. Brugge is small and easy to navigate, resembles Amsterdam a lot. 🙂

Welcome back to the blog! I am amazed at all the ground you covered in ten days! I would love to visit Amsterdam and the canals someday. Did you have a favorite spot over the ten-day trip that you will visit again?

Yeah i was pretty tired by the time we reached Portugal and we underestimated how long the train journeys would be! My favourite places would have to be the spas in Budapest, the canals in Amsterdam and Sintra in Portugal. Would deffo visit those 3 countries again!

I must admit, I always meant to o this myself, but never got round to it. It must be so nice just floating from one destination to the next. I love the Dancing House – it looks great.

Yeah! Never too late to try it out. It requires some planning and saving but not impossible! The dancing house was a very cool and eccentric piece of architecture. One of the highlights of Prague!

Welcome back, I bet a break was really nice. My husband worked for the railroad for 20 years and a trip like this kind of trip would be just the thing for us. If we’re ever lucky enough to follow in your footsteps I know we’d look forward to goulash soup in Hungary (for her) and the Prague Castle in the Czech Republic (for him). x

Yes Nadia! Do it. Budapest is very cheap, has cosy hotels and the spas are beautiful. There are also statues everywhere (if you like that kinda thing). 🙂

I’ve been to all of these destinations bar Lisbon (the only place I’ve been in Portugal is the Algarve), and I have to say, Budapest is definitely my favourite of them all. It’s a beautiful city, with so much history and culture x
